Take the Blue Line to Karol Bagh Metro Station. The Blue Line runs Noida City Centre / Vaishali to Dwarka Sector-21, with Karol Bagh sitting between Rajiv Chowk and Rajendra Place. Exit through Gate 1, which faces the Ajmal Khan Road direction. The SDM office is a 5-6 minute walk along the side street. Auto-rickshaw from the metro exit to the office is ₹20-30 if you prefer not to walk.

Karol Bagh's grid of one-way streets makes auto-rickshaws the practical choice for short hops. From the metro to the SDM office is a ₹30 auto fare. From Connaught Place — auto ₹100-120 or Uber ₹120-180. From Dhaula Kuan — auto ₹120-150 or Uber ₹180-220. From IGI Airport — Uber ₹400-500, 40-50 minutes. Be aware that Ajmal Khan Road is heavily congested between 11 AM and 8 PM; an auto from Karol Bagh Metro is sometimes faster than an Uber because of the one-way restrictions for cars.
DTC routes 901, 920, 940 and many Cluster Buses stop near the Karol Bagh Petrol Pump and the Pusa Road junction. The walk from the bus stop to the SDM office is 8-10 minutes.
Driving in Karol Bagh during daytime is genuinely frustrating because of pedestrian volume and the no-entry restrictions on the main bazaar lanes. The SDM Karol Bagh office is a smaller, less imposing setup than a court complex like Tis Hazari or Saket. It is a focused administrative office handling marriages, address verifications, revenue documents and ration card work. The marriage office is on the ground floor in most cases, with one main window for application submission and one signing room for the actual marriage register.
Walk in through the main entry gate. There may be a basic security check — register your name at the entry desk if asked. Mobile phones are allowed. The marriage office is signposted in Hindi and English from the entry.
One main room handles both application verification and the actual marriage signing. The SDM officer's chamber is adjacent. The clerk who handles paperwork is usually present from 10:30 AM. Application submissions are accepted between 11 AM and 2 PM; afternoons are for signings.
Step outside the office and the street is lined with photocopy shops, stamp vendors and small lawyers' chambers — Karol Bagh has the densest concentration of legal-support services in Central Delhi after Tis Hazari. Photocopy is ₹2-3 per page. Stamp paper of all denominations is available immediately. A notary sits at the second shop on the row from 10:30 AM to 5 PM.
Karol Bagh is a food destination. Within a 5-minute walk from the SDM office you have Roshan Di Kulfi, Bikanervala, Haldiram, the famous chhole-bhature outlets on Bank Street, vegetarian Punjabi restaurants on Pusa Road and several mid-range cafes. Smaller, quieter mandir preferred by couples wanting privacy with small family attendance. Fee similar to Pusa Road. Drive time to SDM office — 7-10 minutes.
One serious caution. Karol Bagh has multiple "Arya Samaj"-named venues that are not affiliated with the Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha. They are essentially commercial wedding venues using the Arya Samaj name. Their certificates fail at the SDM counter. Always check for the parent-organisation plaque at the mandir entrance, or book through us to be routed only to recognised venues.
