Every rupee explained. Government fee, advocate fee, affidavit fee, mandir fee — full line-by-line breakdown so you know exactly what you are paying for. No fine print, no upselling.
Most couples want a single number. Here it is — total cost for a legally valid Delhi marriage certificate in 2026 ranges from ₹3,100 to ₹12,000, depending entirely on which legal route fits your case. The Arya Samaj + SDM same-day route is the cheapest. The Tatkal SMA same-day route is the most expensive. Standard 30-day SMA sits in the middle. Below is the complete map so you can see where your case fits.
These are all-inclusive packages. They include everything from documentation to certificate handover. Read on for the complete breakdown of what each rupee pays for.
2-minute call. Tell us your scenario, we tell you the exact fee.
This section is the most useful on the page. Most consultants quote a single number and hide what it covers. We break each package down to its components so you understand exactly what the government takes and what the consultant takes.
Total ₹3,100 — which is the all-inclusive package price you pay us. There are no separate charges for witness arrangement, application drafting, follow-up calls, or certificate verification. Photographs are your own responsibility; if you do not have them, we recommend the photo studio across Rohini Court Sector 14 (₹300-400 for six photos each).
Total ₹6,100. The actual cost varies slightly because the government SMA notice fee can be ₹1,000 for general category or ₹1,500 for some SDM offices. We round to ₹6,100 for transparency — you pay the same regardless of which SDM happens to charge the higher rate.
Total ₹7,000. The higher fee compared to Arya Samaj reflects the Qazi's services, the bilingual Nikahnama preparation (which is more demanding than a Hindi-only Arya Samaj certificate), and the higher coordination effort required.
Total ₹12,000. The ₹10,000 portion goes directly to the Delhi Government via SDM receipt — you can verify this on the receipt. Our service portion is ₹2,000. Anyone charging more than ₹12,500 for tatkal is overcharging. Anyone charging less than ₹11,500 is hiding part of the government fee, which usually means a fake receipt.
This is for couples who had a religious wedding earlier (temple ceremony, farmhouse wedding, hotel wedding) and now need a government certificate. The fee varies based on documentation quality:
Total varies. Government fee here is ₹100; the rest is documentation preparation effort.
Total ranges ₹15,000-20,000. The exact figure depends on which base route is used and where the certificate is couriered.
To help couples spot inflated quotes from other consultants, here is the complete government fee schedule.
Total government component for standard SMA: ₹1,000-1,500. For tatkal SMA: ₹11,000-11,500.
Total government component: ₹200. This is why the Arya Samaj route is so much cheaper — the government takes only ₹200 from a HMA registration whereas it takes ₹1,500 from an SMA registration.
Total government component: ₹200. The bulk of the Muslim Nikah fee is the Qazi's professional fee and bilingual documentation effort, not the government component.
If you ever see a quote claiming MEA apostille is ₹5,000 or ₹10,000 — that consultant is pocketing the difference. The MEA fee is fixed by the Ministry of External Affairs.
From dealing with thousands of couples since 2015, we have seen every quotation trick used in this market. Here are the common ones to watch for.
Consultant quotes ₹2,500 over phone. Couple visits the office. Now there are "additional" charges — ₹500 for affidavit, ₹500 for photographs, ₹800 for witnesses, ₹1,000 for certificate collection. Final bill: ₹5,300. The couple has invested time and feels reluctant to walk out, so they pay. This is the most common Delhi market trick.
Consultant quotes ₹15,000 for "all-inclusive same-day". The breakdown is never given. Of that ₹15,000, ₹10,000 is the government tatkal fee (publicly known) and ₹5,000 is the consultant's actual service margin. The honest market rate is ₹2,000-2,500 service over the government fee. Couples who don't know the government component get overcharged ₹3,000.
Consultant promises same-day for ₹8,000. Couple goes to the SDM and is told the tatkal fee is ₹10,000 — which the consultant didn't pay. The case gets refused. The consultant blames the SDM. The couple loses time and the ₹8,000 advance. Avoid any "tatkal" quote that does not explicitly mention the ₹10,000 government component.
Consultant takes a couple to an unrecognised mandir for an Arya Samaj wedding at ₹2,200. The mandir issues a certificate. The SDM later rejects it because the mandir is not affiliated with the Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha. Now the couple has to redo the wedding at a real mandir, paying another ₹3,100. Total spent: ₹5,300. Saved nothing.
For NRI couples, the apostille fee is ₹500 (₹1,000 for tatkal apostille). Some consultants charge ₹5,000-10,000 for apostille facilitation, pocketing the difference. Our apostille service is ₹2,500 — which includes the ₹500 government fee, courier costs, and our coordination effort. ₹2,500 is the honest market rate.
Three reasons we have not raised our prices despite competitors charging more.
First, repeat referral business is our main growth channel. Couples who feel they paid a fair price tell their friends. Couples who feel ripped off do not. Over nine years, this compounding effect means we have a low customer acquisition cost — so we can afford to charge less than consultants who depend on Google ads to find new clients.
Second, our office is at Rohini and we walk to the SDM office four days a week. We do not pay for premium South Delhi office space. We do not run expensive Google ad campaigns. We do not have a marketing manager. The savings are passed back to clients through honest pricing.
Third, the integrity matters more than the margin. We have refused to upsell same-day Hindu couples to ₹12,000 tatkal when ₹3,100 Arya Samaj does the job. Other consultants do this routinely. Our position has been consistent — we want the couple to pay the minimum legal cost for their situation, even if that means we earn less on a given case.
We accept multiple payment methods to make this convenient for couples.
Accepted at our Rohini office and at the SDM office for government fees. Cash receipts are issued for every payment. No transaction fee.
Preferred for tech-savvy couples. Instant confirmation. UPI ID and QR code shared on WhatsApp at booking time. No transaction fee.
For larger amounts (Tatkal SMA, NRI complete package). Account details shared after the first call. Transfer confirmation usually takes 5-30 minutes.
Accepted via secure payment link. 2% transaction fee added (this is the actual payment gateway charge — we do not retain any margin on it).
For NRI clients. We accept inbound wire transfers in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, AED. We absorb the wire fee on the receiving end.
We charge in two parts — 50 per cent at booking and 50 per cent at certificate handover. This protects both parties. You can pay 100 per cent upfront if you prefer — many couples do this for tatkal cases to avoid worrying about the second payment on a busy day.
We are upfront about refund terms because the marriage registration market is full of consultants who promise refunds and never deliver.
The package price covers the marriage registration itself. A handful of related expenses fall outside the package and couples sometimes forget to budget for them. We mention them upfront so there are no surprises during the marriage week.
Photographs. If you do not already have recent passport-size photos, budget ₹300-500 for a fresh set of six for each partner at a professional photo studio. The studios near Rohini Sector-18 Metro know the SDM specification (white background, recent, formal attire) and charge ₹50-80 per photo. Avoid mall photo booths — their backgrounds and sizing are often wrong.
Photocopies and printing. A few last-minute photocopies of documents (your ID, witness IDs, divorce decree if applicable) typically cost ₹50-100. The photocopy row outside Rohini Court main gate charges ₹2 per page. Carry small change.
Travel to court. Metro fare from your home to Sector-18 Metro is usually ₹20-60. If you take a cab or auto-rickshaw, budget ₹150-400 depending on distance. Witnesses arrange their own transport.
Lunch on the wedding day. Court complex food is cheap (₹100-200 per person) and decent. If you want a celebratory lunch with family at a nearby restaurant, budget ₹500-800 per person. Restaurants near Rohini Sector 18 range from north Indian thali to South Indian.
Aadhaar update after marriage. Marital status update is free. Surname change is ₹50. Most Aadhaar Seva Kendras process this in a single 15-minute visit within a week of receiving your certificate.
None of these "hidden" costs are charged by us — they are real-world out-of-pocket expenses any wedding day involves. Total realistic additional spending: ₹1,000-2,500 across both partners. Plan this into your budget alongside the package fee.
SDM offices are closed Sunday. So a Sunday wedding ceremony can happen at the Arya Samaj mandir but the SDM registration shifts to Monday morning. Our Sunday-only mandir ceremony fee is ₹3,100 (same as weekday). Monday SDM registration is included.
For NRI couples in Delhi for 4-7 days, we offer a Tatkal NRI package at ₹15,000. Includes everything from airport pickup advice to certificate apostille. Designed for couples who must finish before flying back.
Standard inter-caste marriage fee is the same as SMA (₹6,100 standard or ₹12,000 tatkal). Police protection coordination adds ₹2,000 (mostly process service for the writ petition). For comprehensive inter-caste support, see our inter-caste marriage page.
If one or both partners were previously married, fee remains the same. The only added cost is sometimes legal opinion on the divorce decree (₹500-800) if the decree has unusual provisions. Most cases do not need this.
10 per cent discount on any package for couples where both partners are 60 or older. We do not advertise this but we honour it when applicable. Just mention age at the first call.
Couples who want photography, mandap decoration, and a small reception — these are wedding add-ons beyond marriage registration. We can refer trusted vendors but do not include these in our marriage registration package. Honest separation of services — we do registration, vendors do celebration.
For couples comparing options:
Range: ₹3,100-12,000. Government tatkal scheme available. Multiple SDM courts. Mature consultant ecosystem.
Range: ₹5,000-15,000. No formal tatkal scheme. Longer timelines for SMA (often 35-50 days). Higher consultant fees due to higher office costs.
Range: ₹4,000-12,000. No tatkal route. SMA takes 30-40 days. Karnataka government online portal is efficient but consultant availability is moderate.
Range: ₹3,500-10,000. Process similar to Delhi standard SMA. Tatkal-equivalent available in some districts at variable cost.
Range: ₹3,500-9,000. Lowest cost among metros. Process well-organised but slower.
Delhi's ₹3,100 Arya Samaj rate is competitive nationally. The tatkal scheme makes Delhi uniquely attractive for couples on a tight visa or travel timeline — no other major Indian city offers a formal 24-hour government route.
Yes, for a complete and SDM-registered Arya Samaj marriage. Lower quotes either use unrecognised mandirs or skip the SDM registration step (leaving you with just a religious certificate that may be rejected later by passport offices).
Theoretically yes — you can self-file an SMA application. Practically, the savings (₹2,000-3,000) are usually offset by the time you spend learning the process, the rejections you face for documentation errors, and the multiple SDM visits required. Most self-filers we have spoken to in retrospect say they wish they had used a consultant.
No. Marriage registration is a personal expense and not deductible under Indian Income Tax Act.
Yes. The payment can come from any source — parents, friends, sponsors. The legal marriage is still between the two partners.
The base fee structure is the same. NRI/foreign-national cases involve additional documentation (passport verification, single-status certificate, apostille) which is why the NRI complete package is higher (₹15,000-20,000).
The Delhi Revenue Department reviews fees periodically. The current rates have been stable since 2017. A revision was discussed in 2023-2024 but not finalised. As of mid-2026, no change is expected.
Legal services to individual consumers are exempt from GST in India. No GST is added to our fees. If any consultant adds GST to marriage registration fees, that is an irregularity — ask for the GST registration number for verification.
"Marriage fee" typically refers to the religious ceremony cost (pandit, mandir, hawan). "Registration fee" refers to the government fee at the SDM office. Our packages include both, so you do not need to track them separately.
Yes. For genuine cases where the couple has financial constraints, we offer a 3-instalment payment plan (33 per cent each at booking, mid-process, certificate handover). We also occasionally waive our service charge for documented hardship cases — call to discuss.
Yes. We issue an itemised bill with each payment showing the breakdown of government fee versus service fee. The bill carries our office stamp and signature. Useful for personal records and for occasional reimbursement claims from employer welfare funds.
100% genuine reviews submitted by real clients.
