Muslim Nikah Registration in Delhi — Complete Guide

Muslim Nikah Registration in Delhi is a dignified and legally recognised marriage process for Muslim couples, conducted under the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act, 1937. Our team has been arranging Nikahs across Delhi since 2015 — at both the Rohini Court area and Tis Hazari Court. For just ₹7,000, you can have a complete Nikah ceremony along with a legally valid Nikahnama certificate.

Everything in our Nikah service is pre-arranged — an experienced Qazi Sahab, Mehr (dower) documentation, the Ijab-o-Qubool process, and the final Nikahnama certificate. The couple only needs to bring their own documents, two Muslim witnesses (gawah), and approximately one hour of time.

A private, respectful, and quick Nikah service.
₹7,000 all-inclusive — Qazi, ceremony, and certificate are all arranged for you.

Nikah Eligibility — Who Can Apply?

The eligibility rules for a Muslim Nikah are different from those of the Special Marriage Act. The basic conditions are:

  • Both partners must be Muslim (Sunni, Shia, or any sect).
  • Age: The groom should be 21 or older and the bride should be 18 or older (recommended as per Indian law).
  • Both partners must be mentally sound and willing — Ijab-o-Qubool must be made without any coercion.
  • 2 Muslim witnesses (gawah) must be present from the couple's side. For some interpretations, two female witnesses are accepted in place of one male witness.
  • The Mehr (dower) amount must be mutually decided and clearly mentioned in the Nikahnama.
  • Both partners must be free from any previous marriage. In the case of a widow or divorcee, the iddat period must be complete.

If one partner is Muslim and the other is non-Muslim, a traditional Nikah is not directly possible. In such cases, the appropriate route is the Special Marriage Act for inter-religion couples. If you have any doubts, please contact us directly.

Required Documents for Nikah

You will need to bring the following documents on the day of the ceremony. Our complete service includes drafting, affidavit preparation and photo arrangements at our end.

Documents Checklist (Both Partners)

  • Aadhaar Card (original + photocopy)
  • Age proof — Class 10 marksheet, birth certificate, or passport
  • 4–6 passport-size photographs (each)
  • Residence proof — Aadhaar, Voter ID, or passport
  • Religion proof — not mandatory but helpful (any document showing Muslim identity)
  • For widow or divorcee — death certificate or final divorce decree
  • Aadhaar of 2 Muslim witnesses (gawah) — to be brought by the couple (typically a family member or friend)

The Mehr amount is decided by the couple — it can be a token amount or something more substantial. The amount is then clearly mentioned in the Nikahnama at the time of the ceremony.

Nikah Ceremony — Our 4-Step Process

With our service, the entire Nikah is wrapped up in a single day — at most 1 to 2 hours from start to finish. We respect both your time and your privacy.

Step 1 — Welcome & Document Verification (20 min)

The couple arrives at our Rohini Court Sec-14 office (near Sector-18 Metro) or our Tis Hazari office. Documents are verified, the Mehr amount is finalised, and the Nikahnama draft is prepared.

Step 2 — Qazi Sahab and Ijab-o-Qubool

An experienced Delhi-registered Qazi Sahab conducts the Nikah. Ijab (the proposal) and Qubool (the acceptance) are asked three times, and both partners say "Qubool Hai" each time. The couple's two Muslim witnesses provide their testimony.

Step 3 — Nikahnama Signing and Mehr

The Nikahnama is signed by the groom, the bride, the two witnesses, and the Qazi Sahab. The Mehr amount is clearly written. The couple receives the Nikahnama in three languages — Urdu, Hindi, and English.

Step 4 — Certificate Handover

The finalised Nikahnama and registration certificate are handed over to the couple. After this, you can also opt for an additional court marriage registration under the Special Marriage Act — strongly recommended for passport, visa, and NRI cases.

NRI Nikah — Our Special Service

For couples who are NRIs (UK, USA, Canada, Gulf, Australia) or where one partner is based abroad, we offer a special NRI Nikah + Marriage Registration package. This is included at the same ₹7,000 rate with no additional charges.

For NRI clients, we also provide post-Nikah court registration under the Special Marriage Act or the Marriage Registration Act, so that the certificate is fully acceptable for foreign embassy and spouse visa purposes. Apostille and MEA attestation can also be arranged through our network at actual cost.

Keeping in mind the tight schedule of NRI couples, we offer a single-day combined service where the Nikah and registration paperwork are completed on the same day. View the complete breakdown on our pricing page or talk to us directly.

Nikahnama — Legal Validity

A Nikahnama conducted by a registered Qazi in Delhi and duly signed is legally valid under Muslim Personal Law. The Supreme Court and various High Courts have repeatedly confirmed that a properly executed Nikahnama is accepted as proof of marriage.

However, for visa applications, passport updates, insurance, property, and government benefits, it is strongly recommended that the Nikahnama be accompanied by a court-registered marriage certificate. We arrange this through the same-day Special Marriage Act route or the Marriage Registration Act as a ₹6,100 add-on. The complete process is detailed on the pricing page.

The Nikahnama + Court Certificate combo is ideal for passport, visa, and property purposes — both done on the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions — Muslim Nikah Delhi

Is the bride's family permission required for the Nikah?
Under Islamic law, if the bride is baaligh (adult) and is willingly giving her consent, the Nikah is valid. We maintain complete privacy — informing the family is entirely up to the couple. No notice is sent to anyone.
How long does the Nikah take?
1 to 2 hours — from document verification to the handover of the Nikahnama. Everything is completed the same day. Please book your appointment 24 hours in advance.
How much should the Mehr be?
The Mehr depends entirely on the couple's mutual agreement — it can range from a minimum token amount (such as ₹786 or ₹1,001) to a substantial sum, as decided by both partners. The amount is clearly written in the Nikahnama.
Can I update my passport using a Nikahnama?
A Nikahnama is legally valid, but for passport, visa, and foreign embassy purposes a court-registered marriage certificate is highly recommended. We can arrange both together — see our combo pricing.
Can a Muslim and a non-Muslim have a Nikah?
A traditional Nikah between a Muslim and a non-Muslim is legally complex. In such cases, we recommend the Special Marriage Act route — it is valid for couples of every religion.
